I hope you had a great weekend. Everything was wonderful about our weekend until Art and I got into a little tiff coming home from church yesterday.
Do y'all ever have those? Tiffs? Arguments? Disagreements? Growth opportunities that don't feel like opportunities at all? Tiffs on the way to church or on the way home from church just stink.
And it's always over something little that seems huge at the time.
We'll have to talk about this sometime. Right now, me and my hormones need a little more time to process the whole situation. Just keeping it real.
Okay, about the surprise today.
Well, I had this little brainstorm over the weekend about the contest I was running on Friday. I was going to give away one CD of a new message I've developed called "The Most Powerful Two Word Prayer."
I'll be giving this message at some of the events I'm speaking at this fall. (Speaking of which, click here to see if I'll be anywhere near you- I'd love to chat it up in person.)
So, I was going to give away one CD. But then I started thinking about my real desire. My real desire is get this message out because I want to help women process life differently.
Like when you have a tiff with someone you love and you feel absolutley stuck in your right to be right but at the same time your soul is tugging at you to make a different choice. Take the higher ground. Choose joy even when you want to get in the bed and scoot all the way over to the edge so that not one little bit of your flesh touches his flesh.
I'm incredibly mature. Are you picking up on this fact?
But I've been learning so much lately about choosing joy, the power of prayer and being thankful in the midst of whatever circumstance I'm in... and I want to share what I'm learning with my friends.
So, I've decided to make the message available to everyone absolutely free. (And all Lysa's business consultant people sigh and throw their hands up.)
Here's the deal. Listen to this message. Get your friends to listen. And then talk about it. Talk about ways to apply this in the midst of everyday life that sometimes gets messy and emotional and out of whack. Really apply it... like when you get into a tiff.
(And then you can come back here and give me some of my own advice and my little hormonal world will tilt back into place and we'll all be happy again.)
Where was I?
Oh yes, listening to the message with your friends. Yes. After listening and talking about it, maybe some of your friends would be open to reading a book by this crazy speaker girl. That was my dream in writing "Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl".... to help create conversations amongst friends.
Conversations about how to really apply Jesus to everyday life. Not just in a theoretical let's all sit around and sing Kumbaya and pretend we're doing okay kind of way.
No. No. No. Because there are days when we're not doing okay. There are days we are heading home from church and we get in tiffs. And then we sulk and get all mad and stomp around telling everyone to fix their own dadgum lunch.
That's real life. So, how do we apply Jesus to this?
That's what you'll get in my book. And honey... if I could just give you all a free copy of the book I would. I don't keep the profits from the sales of my books anyhow. But in the interest of not bankrupting my publisher and making my business people fire me... I can't give out the books for free. So, I'm giving what I can.
And I totally didn't even ask for permission to do this because I figure I'd rather beg for forgiveness than ask for permission. I love that. I think somewhere deep down behind my little rule following self is a Jesus loving rebel.
So, go here to get the free message.
Go here to Lelia's site if you want to read and study "Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl" with some really cool chicks.
And invite your friends to read this with you. Might I dare you to one more thing.... invite even your non-Christian friends. Yes, please, invite them too.
Now, I am off to put on my big girl panties and go apologize.
