But a mist
It's a Holly Day today~

Our weekend with EWomen in Birmingham, AL was amazing. Lysa is so thankful to be a part of this Godly group of speakers and musical artists who join to minister to women in arenas all over the country. We strongly encourage you to attend a conference near you!

After we landed in Charlotte on Sunday, Lysa went to gather our luggage and I proceeded to retrieve our car.

As I headed out to catch the bus to the parking lot, a gentle middle-aged soul with a big gold front tooth, white Nike baseball cap, and a bright green vest that indicated he was the parking attendant, asked for my help.

"Do you know anything about cell phones?" he inquired.
"Well, enough to be a bit dangerous," I smiled.
"I can't seem to find my voice messages," he said. "I can't remember how you get to them."

I paused. It was such a habit for me and I found it strange that I couldn't easily rattle the instructions off the top of my head. So I grabbed my phone and remembered that you have to press *86. As he handed me his phone, I asked for his password and helped him retrieve his 3 new messages.

"I kept pressing 86*," he said. "I was doing it backwards. Thank you so much. Thank you, thank you."

He happily proceeded to listen to his messages, deleting each one.

"This is my favorite message ever," he quipped. And he handed his phone back to me again. "It's from my wife. I won't delete this one. You have to listen to this."

Feeling like a friend now, I took his phone, put it to my ear, and listened to his sweet wife singing what sounded like a spontaneous made-up little song...'I love you, you mean the world to me...I love you...oh yes I do love you...'

I handed his phone back with a twinkle in my eye.

The bus pulled up and I jumped on.

I sat and I thought.
I would so love that.
I'd love for my husband to have my voice saved on his phone.
Singing to him.
I'd love for him to be able to smile about it.
And proudly share it with a stranger if he felt so led.

Today's devotion from our ministry begins with a story about me and forgiveness in marriage.

After 19 1/2 years of marriage and 2 kids, we have been through it, seen it, done it and survived it. Not sure exactly what the 'it' stands for, but I think you know what I mean if you are married.

Although it isn't always easy, I have tried to be quick to forgive.

Early in our marriage I would periodically let little tiny issues fester. But then I came to the realization that if he was in an accident and didn't come home that nite, I would forever be regretful of my silly grudges.

When you put most of life's issues in proper perspective, they really do look so insignificant.

So I urge you today. If you are in a place of unforgiveness with a spouse, family member or friend, remember that 'our life is but a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes', James 4:14.

Enjoy. Embrace. Encourage. Forgive. Every day.

Is there someone you need to sing to today?

~Let's pray for our marriages~
