I have an update I just have to share. Last week I posted about picking up a runaway in a Proverbs 31 Devotion, and then I expanded the story a bit here on the blog.
Many of you contacted me asking if I knew any more about Sarah.
The day after the devotion ran I received this email:
Hi Holly,
A friend of mine forwarded me the devotion that was written
yesterday about the teenage runaway and it certainly brought tears to my eyes, because Sarah is our daughter. We cannot thank you enough for listening to God's nudge to go back and pick her up and for keeping her safe. While you were bringing her home to us, we were at her school with the police and counselors trying to find her. Luckily, a friend of ours was at the house that morning so she called us immediately when Sarah got home. Shortly after we arrived, the policeman that you spoke to came by to check on her, since we had filed a missing person report the night before.
Sarah is doing much better now although she is continually battling with 2 different types of clinical depression. It is very difficult to watch your child go through so much pain at such an early age however, we know God is holding Sarah in the palm of His hand even if she doesn't realize it. I know that your picking Sarah up was no coincidence and that God put you on that road for a reason, and for that I am eternally grateful. Sarah is a wonderful daughter, full of sensitivity and creativity, and we love her dearly. Last night when I showed her the devotion she became quiet and a little upset, which surprised me. She said she was at an all time low. She is having a difficult time forgiving herself for some of the things that she has done, but we keep reminding her that God forgives and loves
us anyway, in spite of our sins. We keep praying that she will find her
happiness in Him.
Thank you again for bringing our daughter home.
Sarah's mother
Sarah's mother gave me permission to post this and asked that "everyone please pray for Sarah and for all teenage girls. It is very difficult growing up these days and teenagers carry enormous pressure to fit in, while still unsure of who they are and where they belong".
So true.
I was so relieved when I received her email. It calms my heart to know that Sarah lives in a home where she is loved.
Will you join me in listening to that still small voice today, wherever it may lead us? For we are surrounded by people who are running, yet desperately hoping to be found.
~ If you would like to post a prayer or encouraging words for Sarah and her family today, I will see that they get them. I am sure it would mean so much. (Simply click on the word 'comments' below.) Thank you ~
~ If you know a troubled teen please feel free to also write a comment and we will pray personally for them as well.
