Okay, I totally thought my kids would think yesterday's post was funny. So, I made them sit down at the kitchen table as I read it allowed.
They just sat their and stared at me.
Seriously, not even a snicker.
After a few seconds one of my girls quipped, "I don't get why people think that's funny."
So you know what I did?!?
I ROLLED MY EYES and said, "WHATEVER!" And then I broke out into a hysteria of laughter. Oh yes I did. That's how us mature mamas roll. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.... and then beat 'em at their own game y'all.
I love when my bloggy sisters say, "Me too!" "Amen sister." "Preach it girl." "I'm printing this on off and putting it on my fridge."
But I'm warning you- your kids won't think I'm funny. Not at all. Not in the least. They will say, "That lady is not right."
Then you will smile and ROLL YOUR EYES while saying, "Whatever!" It will feel so good.
Yesterday, after my little hysterical laughing fit, my kids acted like angels shining their halos the rest of the day. I think they are afraid they have finally driven me to the place where I am one fry short of a happy meal.
And maybe that's where most of are living. That's why we women need each other. It's so comforting to share those crazy things we think about and have another person of the female variety "get us."
So, if you like this kind of bonding, you'll love the "A Woman Inspired Conference" coming up in just a couple of weeks!
I'll be speaking on "What Happens When Women Say Yes to God," and I'll try to be a little more serious than I have been this week on the ol' blog. But I'll warn you, my craziness runs deep and is sure to sneak out some time during my seminar.
Many of you told me this week on my conference post that location and cost were big factors when determining whether or not you could attend a conference. Well, between now and April 1st, tickets to A Woman Inspired are only $12.95 !!! And the location couldn't be more convenient--- your computer!
That's right. You can even wear your pj's and have three day old hair if you'd like. Does it get any better than that?
Five of you have already won tickets... but guess what I'm giving 5 MORE TICKETS AWAY from today's comments.
So, a total of ten of you are attending free. Last I checked, you can't get a better deal than that!
Here are the five winners from earlier this week:

I'll announce the winners on Monday.
But, between now and then Amy and Amy will be hanging out around my blog today and through the weekend to answer any all questions you have about this live audio feed conference that will come straight to your computer.
I can't wait to chat live with you soon!

Lysa, I've had moments like that with my kids too. I don't know what's worse...the realization that you're just not funny or the actual blow-off. Every mom IS an island. :)
All my kids have left the nest. Will this conference still be for me?
Lysa,
As I promised, I posted the warnings/suggestions on my fridge. I decided that wasn't good enough so I interrupted a very, very important Halo game to make my three very teenage sons give me their undivided attention so I could read it off.
It backfired!
The rest of the evening I watched my Memphis Tigers game with eruptions of "Hey, Moooommmmm!" from the basement and "Hey, I want some mac n cheese!" and of course, chased with the perverbial booger!
All I can say is..
I know where they sleep...and
I know their girlfriend's number!
I wish I was computer savvy enough to show a video of the preschool I work at. The kids learned a song called "Whatever"
Here's part of it:
Whatever, whatever, wha - wha - wha - wha- whatever
Whatever you do whether word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus
When we first started learning it, all the kids were going around only singing the catchy first line!
We had parents asking what is this 'whatever' song! My 4 year old performed it tonight w/her school and it was sooo cute!
Now anytime I hear someone say whatever, I can't help but sing the song!
What a great giveaway! I hope I win haha :)
Yea! I come to visit on a giveaway day. This must be everyone's week for parenting stuff. It's been a goofy week:)
Blessings! Heaven
Awesome! Thanks so much! (You don't have rules about not winning two things in a month or anything, do you? Don't want to be DQ'd from the She Speaks contest!)
Look forward to hearing you soon!
I fess up. It's 3 am and I'm working. The day job has wound up being full-time (read: I have kids). The night job has wound up being full-time (read: self-employed).
I sure could use some refreshing. That is, unless, under-eye circles are now "in." :)
Love the idea of a conference that comes to me!
Congrats to the winners so far and thanks for the opportunity. I'm already registered for the conference, so no need to enter me in the contest. It looks like a great line-up of speakers and topics so I'm excited!
WOW - a conference we don't have to fly to? You know I'm all for that! HAHA!
Have a good day!
Joy
Oh, thank you so much! How exciting! Thanks for doing this giveaway! I wanted so much to "go" to this conference...but I always struggle with justifying spending any money on myself. But really...I realize that with stuff like this, my WHOLE family benefits from me getting fed and refreshed!
:) Thank you, again! :) Just let me know what I need to do.
And thank you for sharing your craziness with us! It is soooooooooo good to know we can all bond together in our craziness and our love for Jesus!
Have a fantastic weekend!
Love,
K :)
Oh, I didn't even know about the conference.... where have I been? I so want to attend and if I don't win, which I hope I do, I really need to sign up. I am at a place where I need to move along in my walk with God. This may just the thing I need to give me the courage to do His will in my life. It's scary to do something new.
Oh Lysa I just love your blog! SO entertaining! Your post yesterday kind of reminded me of Bible Study last week..we're doing the book of Mark and we were chuckling (um reverently of course!) as we read about Jesus healing Simon's mother in law where it says "the fever left her and she began to wait on them!" Isn't that just like a WOMAN! Bam, she's well, serve it up girl! Someone also pointed out the use of the word "immediately" as in the fisherman dropped everything and went w/Jesus...you just know if he'd selected women disciples they'd have paused and said, oh, Lord, I don't have the right shoes on...or the right outfit..! ;) Happy Weekend! Robin
I've been thinking for a while about registering for the conference. I'd love to win a ticket!
Thanks as always for your funny and encouraging blog posts.
Blessings,
Sherry
The conference sounds awesome...as long as you can access it at other times rather than only in live time. I think I heard that you can do that.
$12.95 is a reasonable price but FREE is absolutely a perfect price. The location is totally convenient too. Thank you!
Yep I got that same response when I shared your post with my kids. I too broke out with whatever and then proceeded to dance around the kitchen. I think the kids speed dialed their dad to give a report!
Have a happy day
oh pick me, pick me :)
Sitting in the comforts of my own home, in my pj's, sipping something wonderful and maybe a light snack all while my spiritual self is being fed!! Can you say LOVELY!!! WHOA does it get any better than that??
Pick me, pick me...
I am a young mother with a preeteen and I am always on a balance board. "I'm young but I'm not your girlfriend" "I'm young so that sounds cool to my friends, but it's extremly corny to my preteen and her friends". I am always in thought of.. Making sure she understands that yes I'm younger than all of your friends mothers but I answer to a higher power so I won't act the way you think I should I'm going to act the way God says I should. Sooooo if that means being corny by singing oldies but Goodies (I darn sure can't sing what they play on the radio now) than so be it!!!!! hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!
27witha12yearold
Sometimes I think the closer to the edge we get, the crazier and more hysterically funny we get (as long as we have some sisters to laugh with us). Yesterday, after battling with a virus for over a month, I told my friends that while I was in the shower I decided I must have emphysema and that I only had a short time left to live, and so I'd better be kind to my daughter so she'd have some good memories of me. My friends totally got it and said, "Other than that, how are you doing?" and I answered, "Now that I'm reconciled to dying, I'm doing doing pretty well." We all broke into hysterical laughter. Yes...I'm on the edge (but aren't we all?)
Could I attend the conference from my sickbed?
Lysa, You make me laugh and you inspire me.
Thanks for all of the laughs...as Ken Davis would say...God has a sense of humor. He is the author of Joy! Ü
Just checked out the confernece page! How cool is that going to be....Just may try to sign myself up, after I look through the site better to make sure I will utilize it to its fullest! Time wise!
Thanks
Shannon
I love the idea of being able to attend a conference like this ---from HOME! It sounds wonderful and I would love to hear what the speakers and attendees have to say.
Just save yesterday's post about 20 years and THEN I bet they'll think it's funny!
The conference sounds so great. Except for not getting to hug your neck again!
Free sounds fabulous! Does the conference stream well to and work with Macs? What are the hours? How do you pick people to speak?
Thanks for offering it in this format. It's a great way to reach more people who normally wouldn't be able to attend in person.
You are so funny Lysa! You made me smile today despite being sick. Thank you for that!
Blessings,
Pearls
You are cracking me up Sister Sue! :) Cracking me up! :)
Have a happy, happy day today!
Rebecca
I'd love the chance to win tickets to this event. I enjoy your blog very much. It is very inspiring and I can't wait to read everyday when I sit down at the computer. Thanks for writing!!
A conference opportunity from home, you go girl! I loved yesterday's post!
Firstly...to all you ladies who share your heartstrings with strangers and friends who are sisters in Christ...I spend time with you each morning benefiting from your advice...your scripture...and your openness to share your experiences and your faith...Thank~you!!
I recently posted a prayer on the whiteboard in my kitchen. I got it from Susanne Scheppmann's March 25th 2009 P31Ministry "Encouragement for Today" devotion. I wanted to comment today because my experience goes with the recent topic.
Our family has been going through some really rough times and it is evident in some of the reactions my children are experiencing...which lead me to search for parenting guidance the morning I recieved the devotional.
When my youngest daughter read the prayer out loud, big brother joined in to discover what was written there. They wondered why I'd posted it. I told them it was a reminder to me to look to the Lord for my strength, wisdom and guidance while raising them...but it is also evidence to them of how much I love them no matter what. They are treasures that God has entrusted me with...whether they are compliant or disagreeable.
This is such a great prayer and it has lead me to an alternate perspective. Instead of worrying about all the things I've done wrong as a mom...I can rest assured that God has my back...He has the good of my children in mind and He will ensure the three of them are grown into the man and women of God...as He sees fit. And in spite of...or because of the flaws in my character and child-rearing skills.
Here's the prayer:
"Dear Lord,
thank~You for the gift of my children!
I am honored You set me apart to be their mom.
Yet, at times parenting is hard!
I ask You for guidance and strength.
Remind me of the joys of parenting when I despair.
Help me keep a balanced outlook.
I ask You to provide me with special Scripture that I can pray for (each of) my children.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen"
One of the scriptures that went with it:
Psalm 147:3
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
We five feel brokenhearted and are thankful for God's mercy and love. So I've decided to use our whiteboard to add scripture which will comfort and inspire us. I've printed off all the scripture you ladies shared a week or so ago. I'll use a new one each day.
Our whiteboard will not only function as a planning/school/appointment center but also as a source for messages from our Awesome God. :)
On a side note:
I would love to win the tickets! It is definitely something even a foreigner can benefit from...thanks so much for the opportunity.
Blessings to each of you for a God-filled day!!
Is the conference a download that I could watch when I get home? I can't watch it at work. lol! I'm definitely interested.
Sandra - This conference is most certainly for you. It is 100% geared toward you: the Christian woman. The sessions will inspire and teach you to dig deeper in your walk with Him and so much more. Please go check out the topics by clicking on the the "day" tabs in the navigation bar, under "schedule".
Angela Parlin - Yes! You can most certainly listen to them at a later time if you can't listen in real time. They will all be made available for download so you can take Lysa with you while going through you morning routine! How fun is that?!
Lysa, you always make me laugh. I love how God uses you to help us women laugh at ourselves. My family already think I'm a french fry short of a happy meal, maybe two! I have heard of these conferences for a year since I've been visiting your blogs and really would love to attend, and being online would be even better since I wouldn't have to travel. I really hope I win one of the free tickets! I know it would help me tremendously, I have been wanting one of your books for a while now. Money has always been an issue, It can be real weary worrying about money! Anyway I appreciate another opportunity. In Christ, Angie
Anonymous A This conference will be utilizing software from Gotowebinar which is the same service that is used by fortune 500 companies. The streaming is amazing! It also does work with MACs.
As far as choosing our speakers, we prayed and considered each person's session as it was submitted and chose accordingly. There truly is a session for every woman no matter what season of life she is in.
DT You can download them at a later time and listen at your convenience.
Not sure if I laughed harder yesterday or today...I still remember being that expert eye-rolling kid!!
I'm checking out the conference details and will come back with questions...thanks!
I would love to win the tickets! I am a stay at home Mom to a very “busy” 3 year old little boy. I don’t do much of anything w/out him holding on to my leg so it would be really hard to go to an actual conference. This would be perfect for me!!
God Bless!
Michelle
Hi Lysa,
I am thankful for your post today. I have been struggling today with God and my rotten attitude. I find it true that we Mama's need each other, okay not just Mama's, but other women too....
Thank you for sharing yourself...I really appreciate your "realness" (I am pretty sure that may not be a word).
Sending you a hug..from one Mama who needs one, too!
You know I just love technology! I especially love it when we Christians take something that could be used for bad and use it for Gods glory. I am very isoloated in a small town right now, unemployed, and the only way I could attend is via the computer. I CAN'T WAIT!
Thank you so much for this opportunity, Lysa! You're a sweetie!

Lysa, I love your blog and your spirit! Thank you for your openness and transparency -- you are such an encouragement. I really appreciate the concept for the presentation of this conference. While I'll miss the in-person fellowship that comes with attending a conference, I'm going to love being able attend an event and get some much-needed encouragement!
Lysa, praying for all the ways you'll bless the ladies who attend the event --
Aurora
This is really great, and the ability to down load the videos afterward is a great idea! I can already see some days where I would have a conflict in being able to get to the computer to watch.
What a neat idea, in lieu of getting to fellowship with lots of women in a big conference, this is really great!
I pray that it will go off without a hitch!
Enter me in the drawing!
Heather - On the road
I do so love using my teenage girls words against them! Like when they get on the phone with their friend and say hello 50x before they start their real conversation? I do that the next time I call them on their cell phones for something. They start saying "M-oooooo-M. Stop that". I love it!
I plan on attending the "A Womabn Inspired" conference so it sure would be cool to win a registration :)
Thanks Lysa for letting us know we are quite normal, no matter what our kids think :)
Mari Taylor
mtaylor918@bellsouth.net
I'd love to win! So, how much listening material is there, or how long will I be sitting at my computer? Is it a type of thing where you pick your sessions?
Hello,
Thanks for this wonderful opportunity to dig deeper into God's Word and be inspired.
Here's my question:
As an Internet participant, do we download all of our materials?
Are they all in PDF form?
Is there any other method of receiving the materials?
Overall, just really would like to take it all in, just like I was sitting there in the audience. Can you clue us in?
Thanks--
Double-portion blessings to ya!
Not many people can get true encouragement and understanding from their teen aged children...keep printing away! ;)
I'd love to win!
A conference? Online? For free? How can this be? =)
I love conferences! Since I can't go to She Speaks this year (LOVED last year's)... I would love the opportunity to win the chance to see this conference online... If I don't win I know the women who do win will be thoroughly blessed!
Love ya!
A conference where I can have 3 day old hair??? That sounds just right for me and my pregnant self :) With a 2 year old and baby-on-the-way in tow - I don't get to wash my hair as often as I would like. Is that gross?
What a cool conference! I can't go to She Speaks because I'm due to have this baby right around that time - so an online conference sounds neat :)
Enjoy your weekend,
Kate :)
Lysa you truly crack me up! Your blog is so funny and so true. I would love to win a ticket, after all I don't win anything. Even though I did win God's grace, mercy, eternal life and unmeasurable love!! Never mind, I guess I have won more than I could of ever imangined! Glory to God. Thanks for all you do and I hope one day we will meet!
Much love,
Tracy Jenks
The conference sounds amazing. Love your blog!
I would just LOVE it.....I can't wait!!!!
Stephanie Davis
Megs - The beauty of this conference is that you have the option to listen to all of the sessions live or you can download them later to listen to when it is convenient for you. All of this is included in the price.
There is no need to sit in front of the computer as long as your speakers are up. You can just listen and do housework if you want to! But, if you do sit in front of the computer for some sessions then you will have the added advantage of a few visuals presented by the speakers and you can instant chat with other attendees through the software.
Thank you "Michelle from Canada" I needed to hear that verse today (Psalm 147:3
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.)
Enter me for the contest. Sounds like too much fun!
Hi Lysa!
I don't have any children yet. Will this conference be beneficial to me? If it is, I would love to win admission:)
Crystal
Tracy - All materials are going to be downloaded. The talks will be downloaded in mp3. The digital scrap kits, blog templates, blog buttons, and some other forms of media (from the gift bag) will be downloaded via zip files. The documents such as: session outlines, bible studies, and household notebook forms will be downloaded in pdf form. All of it is accessible via online.
The speakers sessions will be done live but then made available for download later.
The difference between this conference and live conferences is that you won't actually see the speaker but you will hear her and see whatever visuals (photos, powerpoint presentations, pdf) she makes available for you to see through the software. You will also miss hugging others too but keep in mind that the idea behind this conference is not to replace traditional conferences but to be "in addition to" them. This type of conference is also good for those who may not be able to attend traditional conferences for whatever reason: young children, pregnancy, budget, travel, or prior engagements. With this conference you attend at your convenience or live if you prefer. And the downloads are like getting the sessions on CD free!
Crystal - This conference is not a parenting conference so yes ma'am, it will greatly benefit you!
This conference is geared toward women in all seasons of life. Check out some of our sessions and see for yourself. Go to www.awomaninspiredconference.org and under "Schedule" in the navigation bar, click on each day and see what is in store for you!
Lysa,
I love the idea of a conference right on your computer. I just spent time reading through who is speaking and it sounds great. I would love to win a ticket.
I am so excited that you are speaking on saying yes to God. That Bible study changed my life.
Caryn
If I win the free conference, I want it to go to Jessica Hopper. She deserves it so much.
Hey, Lysa,
I loved yesterday's post! My four-year-old has recently started rolling her eyes at me, and as for the rest, now I know what I have to look forward to! You make it all sound so funny .....
This conference sounds great. Our Mommy-friendly Bible Study group is reading that book right now - I'd love to hear you speak about it!
Amy :-)
I am so ready for this! Thanks!
maybe they acted like angels knowing you would pst that on the blog!!!
this conference sounds amazing!!
is there childcare provided, lol!!!!
I am totally ready for it
I wiuld love to attend the conference!
Be blessed,
Terri Sue
What is the date of the conference..somehow I missed that!
Now..how does this work of your connection is sometimes touch and go?
Alyce
Would love a chance to win a ticket to this conference! Love you, Lysa! You're the bomb! And my kids would, like, totally, gag if they knew I used that phrase. They think I'm too OLD to say that. Whatever...
This will be my First and I am looking forward to it but I am going to be dressed as I feel better looking good while taking in God's word.
It's a Spring Day here in Deale and I am sitting in my rocker in the mornings for devotionals...
It causes me to sit longer than planned but I take in his Word and his creation. Thanks so much.
My kids are still a little young, but I somehow related to your last posts and totally laughed outloud at both.
The conference sounds great and the only way I can swing it now is if I get to sit at my computer to attend so I think this is a great concept.
I am so thankful for the community of believers and women I am connecting to through the Internet.
Thanks!
The nerve of those people!
I totally understand you.
My own teens think I'm some sort of alien whacko!
I tell them all the time.....people think I'm cool (in my circles!!)
Poor things....when they grow up....they will see! Parents really do ROCK!
There are so many times I just need to know and hear that girls out there totally relate, and understand what I am going through. Your messages oftenhit the nail on the head. I often look forward to logging on for a little bit of what I like to call "girlie- type church. Thanks , and it did feel really good to roll the eyes and say "whatever', just like the days of my youth.
Lysa,
You are the girl next door...down to earth, real, and honest. And a hoot to boot!!
Love your posts, your insight, your humor, and your faith. And would love to win, too!
Thank you!!
I read yesterday's post to my kids (ages 3 and 5. The treasures from the nostrils and the dinner comments were way too appropriate however, my 5yr old had just earlier made a comment about me not exercising and getting fat, so that one was aimed at her. They actually wanted me to read it again. Either they wanted to get all the rules straight or something in it sparked their imaginiations. Thanks for the laughs and the advice to my kids. Maybe they will listen to you.
ml4estsmom@yahoo.com
The best revenge will be when our kids have their own kids and do them the same way they do us.
Great prize...would be really nice to win it.
I love reading your blog every day!! I would love to win a FREE ticket - I would have come to see you in Dallas, but I couldn't afford the ticket - even after the discounts. I love your book "What Happens When Women Say Yes to God"! I'm reading it again!!
Martie
Arlington TX
The conference sounds so exciting! And even though I don't have kids of my own yet, I still got a great kick out of Wednesday's post. Too funny!
Alyce - The dates of the conference are April 6th through the 9th. You can find the full schedule here: http://www.awomaninspiredconference.org/2008/02/schedule.html.
If your internet is touch and go then you can also call in via a cell phone or land line. Then, remember, you can always download them to listen to later.
:)
An online conference sounds really great. That means Australia is not too far away for me to attend. I would love to win tickets because I haven't found out if I can purchase from overseas. I know I went to the book shop to buy something and it wouldn't post overseas as far as I could tell. Wouldn't take an overseas address.
Jen - You can purchase tickets from anywhere in the world, including Australia. The registration page is here: http://www.awomaninspiredconference.org/2008/01/register_05.html.
We do hope that you will be joining us!
hey, lysa:
this is another blog i read and this made me think of you....enjoy:
http://girltalk.blogs.com/girltalk/2009/03/friday.html
I'm new to reading blogs and have posted this one in my favorites folder. I am wondering if this "A Woman Inspired Conference" is only for married women. I am in my middle 20's and am not married and from all that I have been reading it seems more for those who have a family. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.
Lysa,
God never fails to use you when I come in contact with you or your work. Two years ago, I heard you speak in Charlotte, NC and God is still reminding me of lessons I learned that weekend. Now I am using your book in a Bible study with other moms. We are all getting so much out of it.
I have a friend who always reads your blogs and emailed me to get on and read yours today. Glad I did. My husband, five year old and I all laughed through yesterdays entry. Thanks for being real. It reminds me that God made each of us just as we are, and He can use us as much as we let Him.
Please enter me in the contest for the conference. I would love to have the opportunity to download the session. I know God would use it in my life.
Thanks for doing what you do!
Laura
Yikes! Oh, I've been there myself. I've laughed at my children when they honestly don't think it's funny at all. In fact, they have actually been hurt knowing that I'm laughing. When, I finally realize my mistake, I try to explain it, and truthfully it really doesn't get any better. Only, saying I'm sorry, please forgive me and praying to God to help me distinguish between the times I can laugh and cannot is what usually happens. Lord, help us to be the loving parents you desire us to be. I really think, these opportunites to humble ourselves before God are intentional and brings us ultimately closure to our Lord and Savior.
Alyssa ~ thank you for your question. If you click on the individual days under "schedule" on the menu bar, you will find the topic descriptions. Many of them are written for Christian women in general, single and married. Just a few examples: Amy Bayliss is speaking on Biblical friendships, Shelly Ballestero is speaking on beauty and balance, Darlene Schacht is speaking on healthy living, and many many more.
I loved yesterday's post, but the fact that you sat them down and read it to them...priceless!!! Also the conference sounds awesome--I'm off to check it out.
Last weekend I experienced a miscarriage. I have two healthy kids so it was quite a shock. I could definitely use some inspiration that doesn't involve travel! I am seriously considering buying a ticket if I don't win one. Thanks for sharing.
I love the idea of a online conference. I hope to meet and make some new friends.
"For the sake of a mighty fine tastebud" was hilarious!! I like the idea of an online conference that I can download and tune in later. Seems like I could 10 minutes at a time?? Thanks for the opportunity!!
mheardll@verizon.net
Hi everyone, this is Amy, one of the conference coordinators. Several of you have expressed interest in purchasing a ticket but may be waiting to see if you win Lysa's giveaway. If you would like to go ahead and buy a ticket now, we will give you a complete refund if you are one of the winners.
Hi,
What a great opportunity! You guys are really great at Proverbs 31. First the scholarship, now this, and let's not forget all the other book giveaways you have! I was checking out the website for this and it looks really cool. Can you really watch when you want, if you are not available at the date and times listed for the conference? Wow technology!

Congratulations to the winners of the "She Speaks Conference"!
Even though I personally wasn't selected, I am excited for those ladies. An opportunity awaits them, a God given opportunity to develop those talents and gifts that God so graciously bestowed upon them.
As for this second opportunity to enter and win home seats to the "A Woman Inspired Conference", I am all over it. I read "What Happens When Women Say Yes to God" when its title was "Radically Obedient, Radically Blessed" and it was one of the first books to change my spiritual walk with my Lord and Savior by ginormous proportions.
Thank you for this chance!

Lysa,
I hate to admit this but I did not know who you were until a few months ago. I have not been a great Christian in the past but felt something stir in my heart and my head that has been leading me down a different path, the right path. I am not going to say that God spoke to me because I am not sure at this point, but I do know there is a battle inside me sometimes. I heard about your seminar in Memphis from the radio and went with a friend. You were fantastic. I think the problem with conferences and seminars and sometimes church service itself is that there is rarely any humor. Being happy and laughing is what we need in the world we live in. We are forced to be serious about Finances, Health, War and our daily life. When we get a chance to enjoy ourselves, we want to revel in it and don't want it to stop. That is how I felt at your conference. Was it serious at times?? Of course, Did I cry?? Of course, but you brought us back to the craziness of life and made us remember that God gave us humor. I am excited about the Women's conference and if the other women are as inspirational as you, my journey down the right path is going to be hilarious.
"WHATEVER!" I'm on the floor, rolling in laughter, tears streaming down my face, teeteeing and all!!! You are just too funny! Thanks for making my day!
Live, Love, Laughter...Kim
Well, I read your post to my kids and they thought it was very funny. Hope that helps!
I'm late. I'm not even sure if the comments are still open, as it's already 6:35 a.m. on Monday morning. However, I know with every fiber of my being that I'm supposed to be at this conference...a scholarship would certainly make it easier to attend. (But easier isn't always better, is it? And easy almost never grows the Faith, so I'm leaving this in God's hands.) :) Thank you for the chance!
Lysa-
I checked out the schedule on Day 1 and was immediately hit with something I have been struggling with: getting past the superficial with girlfriends. We recently relocated to a different state, away from family and friends. I fee like every one of my conversations with people is superficial. I long for a good friend who I can share my life with. Whether I win a ticket or not to this conference, I plan on signing up... sounds like just what I what I need!

Oh, I was thinking of attending!
Lysa: My mom always does that to my brother and me. I love it! In fact, I think that's the reason we're as close as we are. She's my best friend. She answers the phone saying, "What's up, girlfriend?" I can only hope this for you too when your children are older. It's the greatest comfort to know that your mom can relate to you... even in situations when you would never expect her to (as I'm sure you children didn't at that moment). Keep blowing them away with seeming as though you're one fry short. They'll love it more every day and you'll grow closer with them in the process.
I hear ya! When my nearly-eight-year-old daughter (April 27th--She about has the date marked in RED on the calendar), was merely a five-year-old elfin angel, I saw her struggling to walk in her shoes. Empathizing with her difficulty, I said, "What's the matter sweetie? Are your shoes too tight?"
To this she answered, in her best Miley Cyrus sarcastic tone, "Ya think???!!!!"
This was accompanied by the "head thing,"--you know, that unnatural bob and weave thing kids do now with their heads, all the while keeping their necks perfectly still.
I shuddered involuntarily--I am soooo NOT READY for the tween years! (My pulse races at even the thought!)
