It's funny when you are deprived of your basics, how you suddenly appreciate them so much more.
Holly and I are stranded in a great tundra of snow. Okay, I think it's only like three inches but to a girl who grew up in Florida it might as well be 3 feet.
Today, we're supposed to be meeting all the kind people at Zondervan and working on some things for my upcoming book.
Our prospects of making a nice first impression are looking slim to none.
Oh, we packed all the right stuff--- toothbrushes, hairbrushes, hair spray, businessy clothes and half decent boots. We even had a few matching accessories. But all those things are currently floating around in Chicago and we are in Michigan.
And I would talk about how much fun it might be to run out and quickly shop for replacements except for the fact the temperatures are hovering around sub zero and our coats are also in those lost suitcases.
So, I have on my ragged out jeans fit only for my family's eyes. My favorite sweatshirt I usually run in. My old sneakers. No make up. Greasy hair. And unclean teeth.
Oh and might I mention, we had to sleep in our clothes last night.
Nice.
And here's the kicker of it all. Holly and I started out this little adventure on US Air, got transferred to a canceled flight by United, and then wound up by the grace of God on the only American flight that made it out of Chicago late last night.
So, no one quite knows the who, what, when, where facts of our little pieces of luggage.
Now I'm all about the verses that remind us, "Man looks on the outward appearance but God looks at the heart." All about that.
But, somehow I still think God intends for us to brush our teeth first thing before talking to other humans.
So, if you sweet bloggy friends would be so kind to pray for some kind of a quick luggage miracle, that would be ever so nice.
I'll keep you posted...
