Flight 1549
Yesterday, my pastor interviewed a couple of the passengers from flight 1549 which went down in the Hudson River last week. Read about it here.

Amazing.

As that plane was preparing for impact, the people aboard suddenly had the keen awareness to strip away everything of lesser importance in their lives.

No one cried out, "Oh possessions of mine, you will surely save me."

No one cried out, "Oh powerful job of mine, you will surely save me."

No once cried out, "Oh my persona of perfection, you will surely save me."

No. Suddenly, God was all they wanted. God was all they had.

Even, like one man said yesterday, those who weren't real religious before, have a lot of things to reevaluate.

So, I pose this question to myself... "What will be different about me today because of Jesus in me?" Stripping all else away, what will be different about me today because of Jesus living in me and working through me.

I've walked with Jesus for a long time. But today I want a more keen awareness of His presence in me.

Maybe, I'll have a slower reaction to something that might have ruffled my feathers before.

Maybe, I'll have a more loving tone with a child who tests my patience.

Maybe, I'll be more aware of not just looking at but really seeing the strangers who cross my path today.

Maybe, I'll give without expecting recognition or thanks.

Thank you God for the miracle on the Hudson River last week. May all people recognize your hand that was mighty to save. And may it make all of us, pause, reflect, revere and reevaluate.
