Hi Sweet and Compassionate Bloggy Friends,
Isaiah chapter 9 is usually quoted throughout the month of December in Christmas Pageants, Sermons and even around many dinner tables. It is part of acknowledging the real reason for the season... "Unto us a Child is Born."
This Child, Jesus, came to walk the dusty roads of this Earth so that God's true spirit could reside in all who believe. We don't have to be a people who just know about God. We can be a people who know God Himself.
A people who have pressed in close to God's very heartbeat in hopes of our own hearts beating in tandem with His... that is who we can be.
And that is who you are as evidenced by the amazing outpouring of love for kids you have never seen and a nation most of you have never stepped foot on.
Liberia cried out. You listened. You gave. You prayed. You cared.
These little children kneel beside their make shift beds in Liberia every day thanking God for their very breath of life and asking God for food and provisions to make it possible to live another day. When my boys came home, these were still the prayers that they prayed. Hearing my boys' pray with such raw need made my heart ache for the children still in the orphanage.
That ache never goes away once it has seeped deep enough into one's heart to touch their soul. It is an ache that pulses with God's heart beat. It is an ache to be a part of what Isaiah chapter 9 says will happen because a "Child is born." A Child who became a Savior. And a Savior who calls His people to believe and to act because of that belief.
Isaiah 9: 2-3, "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. You have enlarged a nation and increased their joy..."
Thank you bloggy friends for the way you have prayed, given, and cared for the orphans in Liberia. I am beyond thrilled to announce our blogging community has given over $3700 to date to help feed the orphans in Hoover Village.
That is 92 bags of rice. That means the orphanage will have food for the next 46 days.
Thank you sweet sisters! You have made God smile.
Will you do one more thing? Each time you are in the grocery store and you pass by the shelf that holds rice... will you pray for the kids in Hoover Village? Giving money will feed them for over a month. Your prayers will linger for eternity.
Thank you!
And be sure to pop over to Karen Ehman's site today to see her organization post to solve many of the problem areas you posted about on Friday. And she'll be announcing the winners of her book give away as well.

Food has always been something I cannot imagine being without. I makes my head hurt when I see people in and outside of the US go hungry.
There have been so many times when we were very LOW on money and God ALWAYS filled our bellies and not just with the basic stuff either. Sometimes friends would just "happen" to invite us to dinner at a nice resturaunt, my family would have an unexpected "cook out", or I would find a gift card I forgot all about.
This has always been a personal ministry of mine, but sometimes I want to give directly to people I know need the money or food. Not that non-profits don't do a good job providing ongoing services, but I want it in the "hands", directly in the hands.
The people don't even need to know it is my family who allowed God to use us to provide food, but it is something about direct giving.
Thank you for introducing my family to a specific need. We will continue to pray that God will provide DAILY beyond these 46 days.
Lysa - I am so happy for this group of orphans. But it is still so sad to think of all the children every where in need. I am sponsoring a child in Latvia to go to Christian Camp, but I wish I could adopt all these children. Yet the bible says we will always have the poor with us. It is hard to stomach to think of kids in trouble, without the most basic needs...food/shelter/clothing.
I am excited for those helped, but still so sad for conditions with which they live. :(
Dear Lysa,
These orphans have infected my heart and mind. I think of them not eating while I am at the grocery store, when I am eating, when I clearing off plates with scraps of food uneaten by my children, I think of them all the time. I pray that through your network of friends, bloggers, etc their orphanage is brought to more people's attention. I pray that we all continue to think of these children and make sure that they never have to go a day without food. Hug your boys from me! Praise God for everyone's support.
with God's Love,
Praise God! Thanks Lysa for making this need known to us.
Blessings,
Pearls
That is so great! God loves those little children. I'm glad He let us love on them as well. I hope they feel God's love in a tangible way.
