Before we went to bed on Saturday night, Ashley sat at my computer and read every single one of your prayer comments. Her heart was so touched and encouraged. Then before we left for the meet on Sunday morning, we read each of the Scripture verses you suggested.
We talked about trusting the Lord even when you can't trust your body, your shaky confidence, or your track record this year. We knew whatever was to happen on this day, it would be the Lord carrying her.
Ashley has had a rough competition season this year. Level 8 gymnastics is tough. Especially if your equilibrium is off, your ear is throbbing, both of your big toes are split and bleeding, and your sinuses are infected.
Despite my pleadings to sit this one out- Ashley wouldn't hear of it. "I just got to try Mom."
And try she did...
Psalm 121: 1, "I lift up my eyes to the hills where does my help come from?"
"My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth."
"He will not let your foot slip- he who watches over you will not slumber..."
"The Lord watches over you- the Lord is your shade at your right hand..."
In this picture Ashley's coach is telling her there was no reason at all that she should have stayed on that beam after her back walk-over, back hand spring connection. But we know why... the power of prayer sweet sisters!
"The Lord watches over you..."
"The Lord is your shade at your right hand..."
"The Lord will keep you from all harm..."
"He will watch over your life." Psalm 121
And then my sweet girl who has not won a competition all season, took the Gold Medal for First Place All-Around.
Thank you for your prayers from the bottom of my still pounding mother's heart. Oh... and I promise I will post the winners of last week's drawings tomorrow. Pinky Promise.
