Besides his charming good looks, this man boy of mine is brilliant. He gets his good looks from my side of the family and his athletic ability from his Dad. But his brains are all his own.
I have been quite intrigued over the past 4 1/2 years by the fact that my two adopted sons never argue with each other. Seriously, I have never seen them say a cross word to each other much less have a fight.
(Now before unrealistic pictures of perfection start dancing in your brain... remember I have 5 kids and the rest more than make up for their brothers in the arguing department... have mercy do they ever!)
So, I asked Jackson about this. I wanted to know how he and Mark get along so well.
He simply replied, "Mark and I have an understanding. If he is doing something that gets on my nerves I say 'I don't like that. Don't do it anymore.' And then Mark will reply, 'Okay.' "
I have spent years trying to understand the complicated nuances of relationships and in one quick sentence my 19 year old son has given me such clarity.
Kind of reminds me of that Bible verse in Psalm 19:14, "May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer."
Lord, may that be so for us today. And if you could just give me half the uncomplicated clarity that my son has with relationships, I'd be ever so grateful!
