Cold Hands- Warm Heart- in Wisconsin
Do any of you have any clue how cold it is in Wisconsin? I know for those of you who live in or near this beautiful, snowy state... I will get no sympathy. But for those of you who are all toasty warm this Sunday morning, just know it is freezing elsewhere.

Holly and I got up Sunday morning and ran a 5K race here at the retreat we are doing for Elmbrook Church! According to Holly's very official assessment of age estimation, she thinks we came in second in our age category. I was too busy dry heaving during the last hill to much care about where we placed. We ran with snow banks to our left and to our right and did I mention it's slightly chilly here?
And yes, I wore "The Jacket" again. No, not while running silly. I wore it speaking... again. It might just become my official speaking uniform. Love me some TJ Maxx!

Here are Beth Mazzone and Laurie McIntyre with Holly and I. And below this, I am standing with Beth Lia. They were a great team to work with.

I thought I would share some pictures from the weekend and ask that you pray for the many ladies that gave their heart to Jesus last night. Again, many beautiful hands went up when I gave the invitation. And again, it made my breath catch in my throat and tears spill from my eyes.

Christy Nockels from Watermark was here leading praise and worship. Amazing!!! Someone told us we look like we could be sisters. I will take that compliment and carry it with me for a while. I also had several people tell me that I look like Angelina Jolie. No, sorry not her... they said Linda Carter. Wonder Woman from the 70's... I won't be carrying that one in my pocket. Maybe I should not have worn those red tights, blue pointy headband and thick gold bands around my wrists. I mean if you are going to be told you look like someone, do you really want it to be someone who looks like they run around in a bad throw back to the - throw back to the early 80's- aerobics outfit?

Sigh.

We have one more session this morning and then we'll be traveling back to places where the air doesn't slice your skin open. Okay, so I exaggerate, but seriously. While I might not have liked the weather here, the people more than made up for it.

And a few last details to share...

Amy Brooke is a having a contest over at here place. Not only that but this sweet sister compiled all our recipes from this weekend's Recipe Swap and Hop into to an organized Word Document. So, head on over to her place, register for her contest, and maybe if you are really sweet in your comment she just might e-mail you the "Bloggy Friends Recipe Collection."

The Recipe Swap and Hop went so well that I thinking of doing more swap and hop days. So, this Friday, I will host an "Organizing Swap and Hop." That means you share will share your best organizing tidbit.

Don't be nervous sisters... just organize something this week and tell us how you did it. If you really want to be fun, load a picture or two. I'm going to show you how I organized my necklaces and bracelets. It will be fun. So, put your thinking cap on and we'll do that on Friday.

Have a great rest of your weekend... see you tomorrow. I'll be reporting live from places with normal temps... did I mention that it is really cold in Wisconsin?

It's been quite a year of whining about the cold around here. To top it off one of our most accurate weatherman is predicting a frigid blizzard around Easter. I want a beach. Right now I am living much closer to the fireplaces in our home. Thanks for doing the swap and hop stuff. It's fun to cruise the blogging world outside of my tiny town.

It's pretty cold here in good ole Lexington,NC today, too! I can't wait to hear how you got your necklaces and bracelets organized. That is a BIG problem for me. Mind you, I have no jewelry worth anything (except my diamond and wedding ring), But, I do have a TON of costume jewelry that I wear every day that is wrecking havoc in my three "too small" jewelry boxes! I spend a good part of every morning just trying to "untangle" the right necklace to go with my outfit!
Blessings,
Starr

Lysa-
Ha! Now you know what your Midwestern- Great Lakes area friends face each winter and that I am not exaggerating when I tell the rest of my P31 sisters how cold I always am! Glad the retreat went well!
Hugs :-)

Hey Lysa!

Glad you had a good weekend even if it was cold.

Thanks for mentioning the contest.

If people would like me to email them the Word Document with all the recipes, if would be easiest on my end for them to shoot me an email at abrooke2002@gmail.com so that way I can just hit reply and attach!

Thanks.

Love ya!

Oh, and put Recipes in the subject line so I don't think it is junk mail!

I do love that jacket! Gonna have to get me one. Hope they come in big girl sizes, if you know what I mean!

We had snow in Arkansas Friday. We actually got almost 5 inches. It was mostly gone by Saturday morning. Today's high is back in 50s.

The Breakaway Retreat was my first opportunity to hear Lysa speak and I do believe my life will never be the same. You see, my hand went up on that cold wintery night in Wisconsin as I proclaimed that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lysa for sharing your testimony and for opening my heart at the deepest depths to God. For this, I will always be grateful.
May God sweetly Bless you always...

Lysa,

Get back to NC! And we think it is cold here in Northern VA.

I tried to post a recipe, but my good ol hubby had blocked everything on my laptop..that it would not let me. I will try again.

I went to TJ Maxx to try "THE" coat. I am too short. But I did get a one in a shorter version. Looks great.

Looking forward to the organizing tips.

Brrrrr Wisconsin sounds so cold! My friends just brought home their little boy from Liberia to Wisconsin, and he had to adjust to a 128-degree temperature difference. Poor kid! : )

I think you should re-consider what a compliment it is to be told you look like Linda Carter. Despite the Wonder Woman costume, I think she is one of the most beautiful women ever. Maybe I'm slightly influenced by the fact that she was my husband's boyhood crush. : )

Have a great week!

I'm in Florida, wearing shorts and a tank top - and you still have my sympathy. I think I'm allergic to snow.

Thanks for the link to the Hope Contest!

So glad you braved that bitter cold to come and see us here in WI...it was such fun to listen and learn! I hope to see you again in June at the Speaker's conference.

I admit that this was my first breakaway retreat and I was both amazed and moved by the stories you have shared with us over the last few days. It was a true honor to listen to you speak and see God's spirit move through you and all who were present. I cannot imagine how you have such disciplined faith to answer the calling so dutifully, but I hope that I too can be so free. I must be on the right path, for I found myself opening my hands and saying with my voice and heart-Yes! Thank you for speaking and I should hope to see you once again.

Sincerely,

Jen W.

Hi Lysa,
I attended the retreat this weekend, and I am so thrilled to have heard and met you! You are such an inspiration! Sorry about the cold and snow. For us diehards, this has been a long winter. It's really hard to think that Easter is almost here with all the cold and snow yet. Hope you made it back home safe and sound. I couldn't believe you did the 5K this morning and wrote your blog before speaking!
Blessings!

Love the jacket!

You are a better woman than I with the whole running in cold weather thingy . . . three babies later would require Depends in those kind of conditions for this sista!

I'll be scratching the recesses of my brain for organizing tips. Thanks for the heads-up a week ahead of time!

Scurry on back to the land of almost balmy temps, dear Lysa.

Lysa, I am the queen of "useless trivia", but in this case it may comfort you....Linda Carter was voted "Most Beautiful Woman in the World" during her heyday. I think she is gorgeous (and so are you) and you should take it as a compliment.

Love,
Tracey

I was just wondering......have you lost your mind running a race in the freezing cold? Just kidding.....I am just impressed that you entered much less that you came in 2nd for your age category......WOW!

Girl, all I gotta say is hop on that plane and go SOUTH! You can come hang with me in Sunny South Florida for a couple of days to defrost from the chills. HA! The door is ALWAYS open...

Have fun!

PS - LOVE the book, thank you so much! ;0)

Lysa,

Thanks for posting on my blog. You are so sweet. I promise never ever to delete it as long as I blog!!!

I just wanted to say, Christy Nockles is my absolute favorite singer in the world! So excited you got to minister with her. I saw Watermark in concert a few years ago and got to meet them afterwards. but I didn't get a cute picture with her...and I don't look like her. They are so sincere and humble. Just awesome.

She doesn't know this, but I named my daughter Elliana because I heard it on their last album.

NOW do you think I'm a stalker???

Ha ha!

Have a great week.

I do love that jacket, but, sit down, this will be a hard thing for you....

We don't have a TJ Maxx in this area!!!!!!

I know. I know. It's especially hard for me too, because I love me that jacket too!!!!!

And Linda Carter is a gorgeous woman. She still is. Angelina Jolie is not. In my eyes. You are so pretty, and you do look a little like Linda Carter...so be blessed.

What I really love is the jacket Holly is wearing in the first picture! Now that's a cute one!!!
Where can I get me one like that???

Wow, I can't believe you didn't pack a snowsuit and wear it all weekend long!!!! It's cold in WI!

And when are you coming to WA State?????????????????????????

LOVE
Leanne in Longview WA

So I shouldn't whine a little bit about the snow we had here in Little Rock that lasted 1.5 days? Shoot!

Still lovin' the jacket Linda, I mean Lysa.

I cannot even begin to imagine running outside right now. It takes everything within me to run from the bathroom back to my bed in the middle of then night after a potty break. Our bedroom is in the basement that has one working vent to heat a very large area. The dog upstairs is warmer than I am.
Great job, Holly & Lysa!!!
You should make that jacket your uniform. Takes the stres out of packing all together! Plus you look fabulous in it! :)
Blessings & hugs,
Lelia

I don't envy you in the cold! I am ready for some nice spring weather, although we had a little snow here in Georgia Saturday.

Thank you for praying for Lauren, she is feeling better. Thankfully no one else in the house has any fever, etc.

Hi Lysa,

Before I read the post, the first thing I noticed was that denim coat. And I said out loud, "There she is in that coat!" It's gorgeous.

Now, I'll go read the post.

Have a wonderful day Lysa.

Here comes the no sympathy voice...

I went walking (sorry, I don't run) when it was 15 below zero this winter - many times. So, girl, this weekend was pretty nice. Actually, we were out sledding with the kids on Saturday and it was chilly. But, Sunday was really nice.

You know things are wacked when you're calling 20 degrees nice.

Welcome to Wisconsin!!! (Wish I could have come to see you - I would have if you were just a little closer).

You make me laugh out loud!
I hope I do get to hear you in person some day. What a treat that would be!
I am so excited that so many women gave their heart to Jesus. What joy to know that they are not only going to spend eternity with Him in heaven, but He can now begin healing them and bringing them true joy here on earth! Thank you for the work you do for the kingdom!
You talk about God in the bathroom, drying heaving, and you bring women to the Lord. I am in awe. I will try these tactics in my witnessing. :)
Love you tremendously!

Okay, now I am laughing at myself. My comment looks like I am saying that you talk about God dry heaving in the bathroom. Sigh. Not what I meant!!!!!! Those are two totally seperate things. I need to proof before posting! Sorry, Lord. No irreverence intended. :)
Sorry about that. :)

Dear Lysa,

Thanks so much for braving the cold to come visit us in Wisconsin. Next time, I invite you to come downhill skiing with me. That way, you at least have gravity helping you get down the hill instead of fighting the dry heaves going up it (we have chair lifts for that sort of thing).

My friends and I had a great time listening to you tell your stories of living for God with "radical obedience". For me personally, it challenged me to live a life that requires more faith in Christ. Excited to see what that will look like!

Well, I'm exhausted from the lack of sleep this weekend and my children are not. Not a good combination! LOL! Should be a fun Monday! Thanks again for your wonderful teaching.

Love in Christ,

Jessica

I just have to say that I LOVE Christy Nockels' music. It has sooo ministered to me. If you don't have any of her stuff, friends, go get some! Incredible. Deep. Profound.

BTW, she is otherwise known as half of the husband wife duo, Watermark. That's how you will find her music.

This 50 year old woman remembers Wonder Woman.... You're much prettier than Linda Carter, but I do think you look like you and Christy could be sisters. I love her voice by the way.... Do you sing too????

I am SO impressed that you ran a 5K. I am not sure I could even run 1/8th of a mile....

Way to go, girl!!

I have been loving our temps in NC lately except for the cold the last few mornings. I am definitely NOT a cold weather girl. My perfect temp is 75 degrees. However, I do love the peacefulness of newly fallen snow, but the slushy melty stuff...no way! Give me a nice breeze on a 75degree day and a chance to plant flowers...what a life!

Latanya

Lysa,

Organizing? You asked for ORGANIZING??? Actually, I have a few tips I'll love sharing (but they aren't original ideas of mine...but, they're novel:) ).

You painted "cold" so well now I've got the shivers! Thank goodness 60s are on their way this week!

:)

My husband and two of my sons ran a 5K this past Saturday...in the "snow!" Okay, it was only flurries, but at 27 degrees, pretty cold for Alabama!

Blogger Carol said...

Oooo girl, are you kidding me? Linda Carter? I would take that as a compliment and run. I had some Wonder Woman underoos back in the day. I used to put them on with foil bracelets and spin and spin in my room. I knew that the only reason I wasn't turning into WW was that I couldn't spin fast enough. Wawawawawa....(that was my 70's sound effect for the Wonder Woman jump) I'm jumping now.

I personally think Lynda Carter is GORGEOUS. I've even blogged about it and my obsession with dark hair. Let's see if I can get the link:
http://stillhisgirl.blogspot.com/2007/10/mystery-solved.html

I just have to say that as a girl who watched Wonder Woman every week and wanted to BE Wonder Woman with all that was in me, I'd be totally complimented if someone told me I looked like her.

And yes, the outfit was bad, but Linda KILLED it! I mean, really, could you imagine being able to pull that off? That unitard didn't even have the flattering bikini cut and yet her thighs still appeared perfectly proportionate.

Yes ma'am, I'll take the Linda compliment anyday. Embrace your Wonder Womanness, girlfriend, on behalf of us 5'3'' girls who can only dream. :))
