A little more fight please
Hope has been preparing for a big debate she'll participate in school tomorrow on Freewill vs. Predestination. So, for the past week she has been working hard on gathering facts and having me ask every friend I know where they stand on this issue and why.

She has become so passionate about where she stands on this issue that I am in awe. Here is a 13 year old girl whose brain in usually filled with 13 year old things now pondering how she can fight for what she believes in.

It has clued me into a crucial fact about teenagers. They want to fight for something.

If we can channel that desire towards making them fight for their faith rather than against it, amazing things just might happen in their heart.

This challenges me to think I've been too careful with trying to instill Biblical principles in my kids. I don't want them just to have a memorized list of do's and don'ts. Principles are important but passion and personal convictions are crucial.

I want them to have a burning love for Jesus. I want them to pursue holiness not out of habit but out of desire. I want them to take a stand against the junk this world throws at them not because Mom and Dad guilt them into but because personal convictions have carved a deep path through their heart and affect their decision making processes.

God, give me the wisdom I need and the circumstances that are necessary to make this happen.
