Blue Light Special: Cellulite and Hissy Fits, Aisle 4
I struggle with both.

I have a favorite verse that deals specifically with cellulite and hissy fits. "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever," (Psalm 73:26).

I have done good keeping my new year's resolutions to lose weight and have less hissy fits.

Although yesterday I failed miserably in one of the two departments. My kids begged me to make them chocolate chip muffins. So I opened up the box, mixed, and stirred said muffins. I baked said muffins. I smelled said muffins. I wanted said muffins. I watched them all eat said muffins. I walked by left-over said muffins. And I never touched said muffins.

But the lack of said muffins made me in a bad mood.

How crazy is that?

So, later I walked in the laundry room only to discover that someone had taken a load of clean clothes out of the dryer, tossed them haphazardly onto the floor and mixed them in with dirty, smelly, sweaty clothes. I was miffed. Miffed in a mighty way.

I reasoned that my peeps have no appreciation for what sacrifice it takes to be the mom. For Heaven's sake I spent my day making muffins I can't eat and washing clothes that I don't wear.

So, I did what any rational woman who had smelled muffins all day but couldn't have one would do.

Yes, ma'am I announced to my muffin eating crew that the laundry room was now off limits to everyone. I taped the door shut with a very endearing love note attached that read, "DO NOT ENTER!" Then as my grand finale I told them all that if they felt the need for clean clothes, they could go to the creek behind our house and wash their clothes themselves.

Then, that verse popped into my mind. The one I mentioned before that deals with cellulite and hissy fits. I got all convicted.

So, as my head collapsed onto my pillow I prayed that overnight Jesus would make a creek form in my back yard somewhere. One with scrubbing rocks so my peeps wouldn't have to suffer so much while trying to clean their clothes. One that was close to a window in my house. So I could sit and watch them wash their clothes in the creek--- while I enjoy one of those muffins. I'm all mature like that you know.
