You Make Me Weary

Hi Friends...
Don't forget to check out the cool Fall Y'All Blog Give Away that I posted about yesterday! See Monday's post about how to win some great prizes from all kinds of bloggers. Now back to the Q&A's for this week...

How do you keep up with all that goes on with your life?? You make me weary! Tell us how you do all that you do!

My Response:
First of all I have to say that most of us have days where they feel guilty about things that have fallen through the cracks and I am no exception. I freely give grace to others because I so desperately need it myself. I get very intentional with every minute of every day and I'm not afraid to say no...especially when it doesn't fit right in line with my top priorities.

Secondly, I think it is important to note that God has uniquely equipped my kids and husband to be able to handle this great adventure He's called our family to. You see even though I am the mouthpiece of the ministry, we do see it as a family calling. We've spent quite a bit of time as a family discussing what works and what doesn't as well as what each of our expectations are and how to creatively meet these needs. No matter what unique calling your family may have, I encourage you to open up the lines of communication and talk about these same things.

For example, my kids need me to drive them to and from school each day. We enjoy coming home after school and eating snacks together and processing their daily events. What this means for my office is that they get very little face to face time with me. I only go to the Proverbs 31 corporate office one day a week for just a couple of hours. Therefore I do most of my Proverbs 31 work over conference calls, e-mails, and phone calls. I have a fantastic team of people that work with me and my family's needs...after all we are mostly all moms who put our family's needs before ministry work.

Speaking of fantastic team members, I think I'll let Holly, my assistant extraordinaire, finish this post regarding her observations on how my life...as crazy as it is...works.

Here's Holly:

How does Lysa do all that she does? That is a question we are both asked at least 15 times at each speaking engagement, not to mention numerous times during the week!

God has gifted Lysa with not only an incredible speaking and writing ability, but she is also one of the best multi-taskers I know. Believe me when I acknowledge that she is a very busy woman, but she is also able to give you her undivided attention at a moments notice. She is able to work, clean, conference, counsel, car pool, eat, run, and love on others all day long...and usually with excellence.

Sometimes I just sit at her desk and my brain will shake, rattle, and roll just trying to juggle her life - while she simply remains calm, cool, and collected, completing each task as it comes.

But, I will let you in on a little secret - when the clock strikes 9pm, she slowly starts to shut down...minute by minute her eyes become heavier and her speech begins to slur. And as soon as the lights go out, she is asleep within 60 seconds without fail. I am usually very envious when we're away at a speaking event...she's out immediately, while I inevitably require at least another hour to slow down.

Lysa has had to make deliberate choices in her life, and lives by her priorities and convictions. God has clearly given Lysa grace for her calling. He has given her the power to do what He has called her to do! And my friend... God's power will help you as well. Seek to have Him establish your steps and hang on for one amazing ride.

I love her lots and thank God for her everyday...she is the best boss and leader I know!
