Okay, today my life was a little like a bad country song.
My ice maker is not working, so off to call a repairman we go.
My dog had a tick that I removed only part of, so off to the vet we go.
My kids all have big projects due, so off to Hobby Lobby we go.
My husband is coughing, sneezing and wheezing sick, so off to the doctor we go.
I've gained 3 pounds back this week, off to the gym we go.
I had 6 loads of laundry to do and needed more energy, so off to Starbucks we go.
Gained another pound after my little caffeine treat, so off to eat a cookie we go.
I overcooked the chicken for dinner, so off to eat another cookie or two we go.
A friend found out her husband may be losing his job, off to make her some cookies we go.
Yes, sometimes the journey of life suddenly takes a turn onto a not so fun path. But I do have the choice to choose joy. So, that's what I earnestly tried to do today. Not because I felt lots of happy feelings. Rather, because I've decided to focus on the many things that are terrific instead of my country song circumstances.
So, with a smile I say thank you God for the amazing privilege of modern conveniences like refrigerators, ice makes and washing machines.
Thank you God for a dog to take to the vet.
Thank you God for craft glue which made making those projects so much easier.
Thank you God that colds are temporary and that medicine is readily available.
Thank you God for a body that is healthy and strong.
Thank you God for taste buds that enjoy things like coffee and cookies.
Thank you for the self-discipline to stop enjoying too many cookies (okay maybe this is a prayer request more than a praise...smiles~!)
Thank you God that you are our abundant provider and sweet reminder that we can walk in full confidence and courage with You. Even when we can't trust our circumstances, we will always find You faithful.
And did I say thank you God for cookies?
